and Master of all the East and West, King of Kartli. b.
1595, eldest son of H.M. The Most High King Giorgi X,
King of Kartli, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen
Mariami, daughter of The Most Excellent Prince Giorgi
Dadiani, Prince of Salipartiano, of Mingrelia, educ.
privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 7th
September 1605. Confirmed and installed by Shah Abbas I
in person at Tiflis, 1606. Fled to Imereti when Abbas I
led a large army into the Caucasus to punish the
Georgians, for attempting unity in 1613. Deposed by Shah
Abbas I 1615, and sent as a prisoner to Astarabad, 1619.
Refusing to convert to Islam, he was incarcerated in the
fortress at Shiraz. m. (first) 1610 (div.),
H.M. The Most High Queen Makrina, daughter of Prince Kiok
Saakadze, Governor of Tiflis. m. (second) a
daughter of the Mtavar of Mingrelia (sic). He was k.
(strangled with a bow string, drowned, or both) at the
Fortress of Shiraz, 21st June 1622.
1615 - 1619 H.M.
The Most High King Bagrat VII, by the will of our Lord,
King of Kings of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians,
Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah
and Master of all the East and West, Khan of Kartli,
eldest son of H.M. The Most High King Davit XI, King of
Kvemo Kartli, by his wife, a Princess of Taku. Succeeded
on the deposition of his cousin, 1615. m. H.M. The
Most High Queen Ana, second daughter of H.M. The Most
High King Aleksandri II, King of Kakheti, by his wife,
H.M. The Most High Queen Tinatina, daughter of Prince
Bardzim Zedginidze-Amilakhvari. He was d. 1619,
having had issue, a son and a daughter:

Great], Shahanshah of Persia (b. at Herat,

of H.M. Zillu'llah 'Abu'l Muzaffar Muhammad Khuda
Banda Shah, Shahanshah of Persia, by his second
wife, Nawab-i-Sipihr Istibah Bilqis uz-Zamani
Khair un-nisa Begum [H.M. the Mahd-i-Aliya],
daughter of Mir 'Abdu'llah Khan II Mar'asi,
Governor of Mazandaran - see Persia (Safawi).
1619 - 1630 H.M.
The Most High King Svimeon II [Semayun Khan], by the will
of our Lord, King of Kings of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians,
Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and
Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West, King of
Kartli. b. and educ. in Isfahan, only son
of H.M. The Most High King Bagrat VII, King of Kartli, by
the his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Ana, second
daughter of H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri II, King
of Kakheti. Appointed as Vali of Kartli with the
title of Semayun Khan, after the death of his
father, by Shah Abbas I, 1619. Unpopular with his
Christian subjects, his 'khanate' never stretched beyond
Somkheti and Sabaratiano, and the capital, Tiflis.
Deposed by King Taimurazi of Kakheti, 1630. m.
1626, Jahan Banu Begum, daughter of General 'Isa Khan
Safawi, cdr. of the Imperial Corps of Pages, by his wife,
H.H. Shahzadi Zubaida Begum, daughter of H.M. Zillu'llah
'Abu'l Muzaffar Shah 'Abbas al-Safavi al-Husaini
al-Musavi Bahadur Khan [Shah Abbas the Great], Shahanshah
of Persia. He was k. by Zurab Sidamoni, Duke of
Aragvi, 1629, having had issue:

Jahan Banu Begum). m. Sayyid 'Abdu'llah

1634 - 1658 H.M. The Most High
King Rustam [Khushru Mirza], by the will of our Lord,
King of Kings, Master, Possessor and Sovereign of the
Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the
Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah, the limits and
regions of all the) East and North, King of Kartli and
Kakheti. b. 1567, natural son of H.M. The Most
High King Davit XI [Daud-Khan], King of Kvemo Kartli, by
a concubine. Darugha (Prefect) of Isfahan before
his accession. Appointed as Vali (Governor),
granted the title of Rustam Khan, and sent with a
large army to take control of Kartli by Shah Safi I,
1632. Crowned at Cathedral of Anchis-Khat, Tiflis, 1634.
Invaded Kakheti, put King Taimurazi to flight, and took
control of that kingdom, 1648. Restored the Cathedral of
the Living Pillar at Mtzkheta. m. (first)

King of Kartli, eldest son of General His Splendour The
Pious Prince of High Rank Prince Bagrat II, 3rd
Prince of Mukhrani and Regent of Georgia, by his wife, a
daughter of General His Splendour The Pious Prince of
High Rank Sidamoni, Duke of Aragvi. Granted the title of Bakhta
Beg by the Shah of Persia. Succeeded his cousin as 6th
Mukhrani-batoni under the reign name of Vakhtang II,
1648. Adopted by King Rustam and Appointed as Heir
Apparent in 1653. Appointed as Janisin (Viceroy)
on behalf of the Shah of Persia with the title of Shah
Nawaz Khan, 1658. Installed, 1st January
