The Most High King Vakhtang III, by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West, King of Kakheti and Kartli. b. 1276, second son of H.M. The Most High King Demetre II Tavdadebuli (the devout), by his first wife, a younger daughter of H.M. Manuel I Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond, educ. privately. Joint sovereign with his brothers Davit VIII and Giorgi V from 1301. m. a daughter of a son of Chabour [Shahpur?]. He was k. at Nakhitchevang, 1304 (bur. Dmanis), having had issue, two sons:

1) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Demetre.
2) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Giorgi.

1311 - 1313 H.M. The Most High King Giorgi IV Mtsiré (the Minor), by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West, King of Kakheti and Kartli. b. 1308, son of H.M. The Most High King Davit VIII, King of Eastern Georgia. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1310. He d. young, 1313.

1299 - 1346 H.M. The Most High King Giorgi V Birtsqinvali (the Brilliant), by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West, King of Georgia, youngest son of H.M. The Most High King Demetre II Tavdadebuli (the devout), by his third wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Natalia, daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Béka I Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhé. Joint king together with his elder brothers, King Davit VIII and Vakhtang III from 1299. Reigned under the regency of the Grand Vizier Choban, until 1314. He stopped paying tribute and drove the Mongols out Georgia. He united Georgia once again, centralised royal power, revived the economy, and established close international commercial ties, mainly with Byzantium, but also with Venice and Genoa. He d. 1346, having had issue, an only surviving son:

1346 - 1360 H.M. The Most High King Davit IX, by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West, King of Georgia, only son of H.M. The Most High King Giorgi V Birtsqinvali (the Brilliant). Succeeded on the death of his father, 1346. m. H.M. The Most High Queen Sindukhtar, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Qvarqvare II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhe. He d. 1360, having had issue, a son and one daughter:

1) H.M. Bagrat V the Great, King of Georgia - see below.
1) H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Gulkhan Khanum [H.M. Empress Eudokia]. m. 6^th October 1379, as his first wife, H.M. Manuel III Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond (b. 16^th December 1364; d. 5^th March 1417), third son of H.M. Alexios III Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond, by his wife, H.M. Empress Theodora, daughter of Nicephore Kantacuzene. She d. 2^nd May 1395, having had issue, one son.

1360 - 1395 H.M. The Most High King Bagrat V Great, by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West, son of H.M. The Most High King Davit IX, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Sindukhtar, younger daughter of Qvarqvare II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhe. Appointed as co-ruler by his father in 1355. Succeeded on his death, 1360. Defeated and taken prisoner by Tamerlane, 1^st November 1386. Accepted Islam in order to gain his freedom, 1387. Conquered and extinguished the kingdom of Imereti, 1392. m. (first) H.M. The Most High Queen Eleni (d. from plague, 1366), daughter of H.M. Basile, Emperor of Trebizond. m. (second) June 1367, H.M. The Most High Queen Ana Megale Komnena (b. 6^th April 1357; d. after 1406), eldest daughter of H.M. Alexios III Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond, by his wife, H.M. Empress Theodora, daughter of Nicephore Cantacuzene. He d. 1395, having had issue, including three sons and two daughters:

1) H.M. Giorgi VII, King of Georgia (s/o Queen Eleni) - see below.
2) H.M. Konstantini I, King of Georgia (s/o Queen Ana) - see below.
3) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Davit. b. before 1386 (s/o Queen Ana). He d. after 1465.
1) H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Ulumpia. m. His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kakhaber VI Chijavadze, Amir-Ejib (d. before 1405, bur. Mghvime), son of The Brilliant Prince Chizhava Kakhaberidze, of Radsha. She d. after 1405, having had issue, at least one son.
2) H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Thamar (d/o a concubine?). m. The Most Excellent Prince Eles Orbeli-Baratashvili, and had issue.

1395 - 1405 H.M. The Most High King Giorgi VII, by the will of our Lord, King, Shirvanshah, Shahanshah, of the Ranians, Kakhetians, Greeks, Armenians, Svanians, Abkhazis, the North, all of Georgia, Imereti and Amierati, the East, the West, the Ruler of All, eldest son of H.M. The Most High King Bagrat V Great, by his first wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Eleni, daughter of H.M. Basile, Emperor of Trebizond.. Appointed as joint ruler by his father, 1369. Succeeded on his death, 1395. Forced to accept Tamerlane as overlord, 1403. m. H.M. The Most High Queen Nestan-Darejan, elder daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kutzna, the Lord Great Chamberlain and sometime Ambassador at Constantinople. He was k. in battle against the Tartar nomads of Somkheti, at Nakhiduri, 1405 (bur. Mtzkheta), having had issue?

1405 - 1412 H.M. The Most High King Konstantini I, by the will of our Lord, King, Shirvanshah, Shahanshah, of the Ranians, Kakhetians, Greeks, Armenians, Svanians, Abkhazis, the North, all of Georgia, Imereti and Amierati, the East, the West, the Ruler of All. b. ca. 1369, second son of H.M. The Most High King Bagrat V the Great, by his second wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Ana, daughter of H.M. Alexios III Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond, educ. privately. Sent as Ambassador to Tamerlane from his father, 1401-1402. Succeeded on the death of his elder half-brother, 1405. m. H.M. The Most High Queen Natela [Nadia] (d. 1412), who became a nun under the name of Nina when a widow, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kutzna II Khurtsidze, Lord Great Chamberlain and sometime Ambassador at Constantinople, by his wife, Rusa, who began the restoration of the Cathedral of the Living Pillar at Mtzkheta. He was k. in battle against the Turkoman Kara-Quyunlu, on the Araks, before 7^th December 1412, having had issue, including three sons:

1) H.M. Aleksandri I the Great, King of Georgia - see below.
2) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Bagrati. Joint ruler from 1408. He had issue, a daughter:
- a) H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Thamar [Nestan-Darejan]. m. 1445, H.M. The Most High King Giorgi VIII, King of Georgia (d. 1476), third son of her uncle, H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri I the Great, by his second wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Thamar, daughter of H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri I, King of Imereti. She d. after 1510, having had issue, three sons and two daughters - see below.
3) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Giorgi. b. 1390. Joint ruler from 1408. m. H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Gulkhan [Gulchara] (m. second, H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Demetre- see below, and d. 1471), daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Demetre, Duke of Imereti. He d. 1446, having had issue, a son and daughter:
- a) H.M. Bagrat VI, King of Georgia - see Georgia (Imereti) and below.
- a) H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Gulkhan. m. His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Amirindo Zedzgenidze, Amir-Akhori, Murav of Gori (d. ca. 1477), Master of the Horse, ancestor of the Zedzgenidze-Amilakhvari family, son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Yotham Zedzgenidze, Amir-Akhori, Murav of Gori, Master of the Horse. She d. as a nun under the name of Gaiana after 1508, having had issue, at least one daughter.

1412 - 1442 H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri I the Great, by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah, of all the East and the North. b. 1389, eldest son of H.M. H.M. The Most High King Konstantini I, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Natela, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kutzna II Khurtsidze, sometime Lord Great Chamberlain, educ. privately. Appointed as joint sovereign by his uncle in 1408. Succeeded on his death, before 7^th December 1412. Abdicated in favour of his sons, Vakhtang IV and Giorgi VIII, 1442. Retired to a monastery where he took vows under the name of Afanassi. m. (first) 1410, H.M. The Most High Queen Dulandukht, daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Beshkén II Orbeliani, Prince of Siunia, in Armenia and Lord of Lori in Georgia, by whom he had issue, two sons and one daughter. m. (second) 1414, H.M. The Most High Queen Thamar (d. 1455), daughter of H.M. H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri I, King of Imereti, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Ana, daughter of The Brilliant Prince Pelgini Orbeliani, by whom he had issue, three sons before 1441. He d. before 7^th March 1446 (bur. Mtzkheta), having had issue, five sons and one daughter:

1) H.M. King Vakhtang IV, King of Kartli (s/o Queen Dulandukht) - see below.
2) H.M. The Most High King Demetre, King of Imereti. b. before 1413 (s/o Queen Dulandukht). Appointed as joint ruler by his father, 1442. Crowned as King of Imereti 1445. Sometime Ambassador to Shahrukh. m. after 1446, H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Gulkhan [Gul Shara] (d. 1471), widow of H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Giorgi, and only daughter and heiress of Demetre, Duke of Imereti. He was k. by a horse, while out on a hunt, 1452, having had issue, a son:
- a) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Davit (said by some authtorities to be Davit I, King of Kakheti).
- b) H.M. Konstantini II, King of Georgia - see below.
3) H.M. Giorgi VIII, King of Georgia (s/o Queen Thamar) - see below.
4) H.M. The Most High King Davit, King of Kakheti. b. 1417 (s/o Queen Thamar). Patriarch-Catholicos of Iberia as His Beatitute Davit III Gobeladze 1427-1469. Crowned as King of Kakheti, 1469. m. H.M. The Most High Queen Thamar Nestan-Darejan [Miran Gul], of the house of Orbeliani. He d. ca. 1471.
5) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Zaal. b. 1425/1428 (s/o Queen Thamar). Joint ruler 1433. He d. after 1442.
1) A daughter. b. ca. 1415 (d/o Queen Thamar). m. 1425, as his first wife, Ionnes IV [Kaloyan] Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond (1429-1459), eldest son of Alexios IV Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond, by his wife, Theodora Kantacuzene. She d. before 1438, having had issue, one son and three daughters.

1442 - 1446 H.M. The Most High King Vakhtang IV Gorgasali, Crowned by of our Lord, King of Kings, of the Ranians, Kakhetians, Svanians, Greeks, Armenians, Mingrelians, Kartvelians, Jikis, Alans, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah, King of Kings of Imereti and Amierati, the East, the North and all Christendom, Sovereign Lord. b. before 1413, eldest son of H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri I the Great, by his first wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Dulandukht, daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Beshkén II Orbeliani, Prince of Siunia, in Armenia, educ. privately. Crowned as King of Kartli on the abdication of his father, 1442. m. 1442, H.M. The Most High Queen Siti Khanum (d. 1444, bur. Bana), daughter of The Most Excellent Prince Zaza Panaskerteli, Lord of Khvedureti and Kareli. He d.s.p. ca. December 1446 (or after 1447) (bur. Bana).

1446 - 1465 H.M. The Most High King Giorgi VIII, by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West. b. 1417, third son of H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri I the Great, King of Georgia, by his second wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Thamar, daughter of H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri I, King of Imereti, educ. privately. Succeeded on the abdication of his father as King of Kakheti, 1442. Succeeded on the death of his elder brother, as King of Kartli, ca. December 1446. Most of his reign was spent trying to subdue his barons, but Mingrelia, Guria and Abhkhazia, all succeeded in establishing themselves as independent principalities. Defeated and taken prisoner by Qvarqvare II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhé, at the battle of Panavari in 1465. In the meantime, his kinsmen Bagrat VI, a descendant of King Davit Narin, succeeded in establishing the separate Kingdom of Kartli. Once freed, Giorgi VIII was left with Kakheti alone after 1465. m. 1445, H.M. The Most High Queen Thamar Daria [Nestan-Darejan] (d. ca. 1510), daughter of his uncle, H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Bagrati. He d. 1476, having had issue, three sons and two daughters:

1) H.M. Aleksandri I, King of Kakheti - see Georgia (Kakheti).
2) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Konstantini.
3) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Vakhtang. He d. young or ca. 1510.
1) A daughter, who was afianced in 1450 to Emperor Constatinos Dragoses.
2) A daughter. Affianced to Emperor Constantine IX Paleologus in 1451, but he was k. at the siege of Constantinople in 1453. m. before 23^rd April 1465, The Brilliant Prince Giorgi Chaburidze, eldest son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vameq Chaburidze, Duke of Aragvi, by his wife, Princess Sara.

1465 - 1478 H.M. The Most High King Bagrat VI, by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West. b. ca. 1435, son of H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Giorgi, by his wife, H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Gulkhan [Gul Shara], daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Demetre, Duke of Imereti, educ. privately. Granted the title of Duke of Kutais by King Giorgi VIII, on the death of his stepfather, 1455. Defeated King Giorgi VIII at Chikhori in 1462 and was crowned at Kutais. Lost Kutais to King Giorgi VII in 1463. Crowned as King of Imereti at Kutais, summer 1462. Seized control of Kartli in 1465 and was recognised as King of all Georgia. Lost control of Kartli in 1466, but re-conquered that kingdom in 1471. m. H.M. The Most High Queen Eleni (d. 3^rd November 1510). He d. 1478 (bur. St George's Cathedral, Gelati), having had issue, at least three sons:

1) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Vakhtang. He d.v.p. young.
2) H.M. Aleksandri II, King of Imereti - see Georgia (Imereti).
3) H.H. The Most Brilliant Prince Davit.

1478 H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri II, by the will of our Lord, King of Kings of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ran, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West, King of Kartli, second son of H.M. The Most High King Bagrat VI, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Eleni. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1478. Unable to maintain his position on the throne, he retired to Radsha and Lechkhumi, where he established a separate principality. Seized Imereti in 1483, but failed to hold the capital, Kutaisi.

1478 - 1490 H.M. The Most High King Konstantini II, by the will of our Lord, King of the Abkhazis, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians and the Armenians, Shirvanshah and Shahanshah and Master of all the East and West. b. after 1447, son of H.M. The Most High Demetre, King of Imereti, by his wife, H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Gulkhan [Gul Shara], daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Demetre, Duke of Imereti, educ. privately. Appointed as joint sovereign by his half-brother, King Bagrat VI, 1475. Expelled his nephew and established himself as King of Georgia, 1478. Recognised the independence of Kakheti in 1490 and Imereti in 1493. Thereafter, left with Kartli as the extent of his kingdom. m. 1473, H.M. The Most High Queen Thamar (d. after 1492). He d. 27^th April 1505, having had issue, including seven sons - see Georgia (Kartli).
