1919 - 1929 H.M. Amir al-Mumenin, Amanu'llah Shah, Sarkar-i-Wala, King of the God granted Kingdom of Afghanistan and its dependencies, Royal Victorian Chain (13.3.1928). b. at Paghman, 1st June 1892, third son of H.M. Siraj ul-millat wa ud-din, Amir al-Mumenin Habibu'llah Shah, Sarkar-i-Wala, King of Afghanistan, GCB, GCMG, by his third wife, H.M. Queen Sarwar Sultana Begum, the Aliya Hazrat, Siraj ul-Khwatin, eldest daughter of Loinab Sher Dil Khan Shaghasi, educ. Harbiya Military Sch, Bagh-i-Charmgarh, Kabul. Styled 'Ayn ud-Daula before his accession. Governor of Kabul 1917-1919. Displaced his elder brother and ascended the throne after the assassination of his father, 20th February 1919. Installed at Kabul, 27th February 1919. Proclaimed the total independence of his country, 13th April 1919 hastening the Third Afghan War. Recognised by Britain in the Anglo-Afghan Treaty (Treaty of Kabul) 22nd November 1921. Abolished slavery by decree in 1921. Assumed the style of Padshah 9th June 1926. Abdicated 14th January 1929, renewed his rights to the throne after his brother's abdication on 17th January 1929, but was forced to leave the country and went into exile in Italy, 23rd May 1929. Founder of the Nishan-i-Iftikhar (the Order of Glory) and the Nishan-i-Astor (the Order of the Star). Habibu'llah Shah Mausoleum, Jalalabad), rcvd: Grand Collar of the Order of the Supreme Sun of Afghanistan, the Decoration of al-Kemal in brilliants of Egypt (26.12.1927), daughter of H.E. Sardar-i-Ala Mahmud Beg Tarzi, sometime Minister for Foreign Affairs, by his second wife, Asma Rasmiya Khanum, daughter of Shaikh Muhammad Saleh al-Fattal Effendi, of Aleppo. m. (fourth) at Rome, November/December 1928 (div.), 'Aliya Begum (b. 1910), daughter of his uncle, Field Marshal H.R.H. Sardar Nasru'llah Khan, Naib us-Sultana, Itwad ud-Daula, GCMG, by his sixth wife, Gulshan Begum. m. (fifth) at Rome, before 1st July 1937, an Italian lady, by whom he had at least one daughter. m. (a) before 1913, Jadidi Begum, a Nuristani Consort. He d. at Zurich, Switzerland, 25th April 1960 (bur. Habibu'llah Shah Mausoleum, Jalalabad), having had issue, twenty children, including:

Siraj ul-millat wa ud-din, Amir al-Mumenin Habibu'llah Shah, Sarkar-i-Wala, King of Afghanistan, GCB, GCMG, by his first wife, H.H. Jamal Begum, Badr ul-Haram Shuja'at Sahib, the Aliya Jah, educ. Harbiya Mil. Sch., Bagh-i-Charmgarh, Kabul. Received the title of Muin us-Sultanat and appointed Field Marshal (Sardar-i-Salar) in 1905. Minister for Education 1916-1919. Proclaimed at the Dilkusha Palace, Kabul, after the abdication of his younger brother, 14th January 1929. Forced into abdicating when Bacha Saqqao surrounded the Arg and threatened to kill his family, 17th January 1929. Evacuated to Peshawar by the RAF, 18th January 1929. Settled in Tehran, Iran. Rcvd: the Grand Collar of the Order of the Supreme Sun, and the Order of the Leader 1st class of Afghanistan. m. (first) 1906 (div. 1908), Jan Begum, daughter of Parwana Khan. m. (second) at Qawm-i-Bagh Palace, Kabul, October 1909, Khairiya Khanum Effendi (b. at Damascus, Syria, 30th December 1893; d. at Kabul, 1980), daughter of H.E. Sardar-i-Ala Mahmud Beg Tarzi, sometime Minister for Foreign Affairs, by his second wife, Asma Rasmiya Khanum, daughter of Shaikh Muhammad Saleh al-Fattal Effendi, of Aleppo. He d. from heart failure at Tehran, Iran, 12th August 1946 (bur. Habibu'llah Shah Mausoleum, Jalalabad, 1963), having had issue, nine sons and twelve daughters (ancestor of the Enayat-Seraj family), including:
